Spain: Barcelona

We fell in love with Spain a couple of years ago when we had the opportunity to visit Madrid, ToledoSeville and Costa de la Luz

Now, we are in Barcelona.
You 've got to love a place where Sangria is served on tap.

A multicultural city rich in Gothic architecture, art and music, Barcelona is nestled on Mediterranean shores.

Getting downtown from the airport was a snap. Look for The Aerobus - it is an express bus service that will drop you off at major points within Barcelona. Easy & cheap...there are kiosks outside of the bus stops that are located in each terminal where you can buy tickets with Euros or with a debit card - credit cards are not accepted.
Here's a list of where The Aerobus runs about every 10 minutes... and costs 5.90 euro. Taxi into the city centre is about 30 euro. We had time to kill, so we opted for the economical route.
  1. Airport
  2. Placa Espanya
  3. Gran Via - Urgell
  4. Placa Universitat
  5. Placa Catalunya (City Centre)
Barcelona's subway system is color-coded and easy to navigate. As you can see, a Metro station is just around the corner from anywhere you might just happen to be at the time...
Having reserved our Metro Pass online from NeoTurismo we picked it up at the Barcelona Airport Visitor Center, along with Metro map and a couple of city maps. Boom. Unlimited travel on the Metro & buses.

FYI: Who knew we could use our MetroPass on the Renfe Train from the airport into the city centre?

Barcelona is divided into "barri's" our AirBnB was in The Raval and we liked it. Close to the Metro and a short walk to The Rambla, Ciutat Vella, and The Gothic Quarter. Here's a few highlights of our trip...
Sagrada Familia Basilica

Gaudi's Casa Batllo
Parc de la Ciutadella
Museo Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
Mont Juic
Palau de la Musica Catalunya
Parc del Labyrint d'Horte
So, until we meet again - Barcelona will remain yet another wonderful travel memory.
