Canada: The Bruce Peninsula

Monday

Recently, Mr. Something and I headed north to discover a "Biosphere Reserve"- The Bruce Peninsula - nestled between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, our final destination was the lovely town of  Tobermory, Ontario, 'Mecca' to Canadian SCUBA enthusiasts, a 3.5-4 hour drive north of Toronto.

According to Wikipedia..."A biosphere reserve is an area proposed by its residents, ratified by a national cammittee and designated by UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere (MAB) program, which demonstrates innovative approaches to living and working in harmony with nature. One of the primary objectives of MAB is to achieve a sustainable balance between the goals of conserving biological diversity, promoting economic development, and maintaining associated cultural values".

Who knew?

So, for all you nature-lovers out there...here's some eye-candy...
We got lucky and saw The Aurora Borealis -aka- The Northern Lights
I almost stepped on the little fella - A Massassauga Rattler
The Town of Tobermory
One of many sunken ships seen by the naked eye
Rock Formations secondary to erosion "Flowerpots"
The water of Georgian Bay is Caribbean Blue
An "Inukshuk" - Stones marking a path's direction

Rodgers-Young 'Gift-Opening'

Sunday

In Canada, the wedding is not over until the 'Gift-Opening' is over.
On the morning following the day of the wedding, everyone gathers for brunch and gift-opening.
Mrs. Young & her Mom
The Mother-of-the-Bride prepared and served brunch.
Killer butter tarts were handmade by Mrs. Young's 93 yr old grandmother.
Grandma (center) partying with the guys
The Morning-After
Tom showing off his ring to the guys
I'm thinking 'The Gift-Opening' was not only another excuse to party...
...it was an opportunity to say "good-bye" to new friends and family.
Gotta love Canadians.

Rodgers-Young Wedding

Thursday

It was just beautiful.
They were radiant.
I am speechless.

Rodgers-Young Rehearsal

Wednesday

Jacklyn & Tom

Admittedly, I am biased ...but my nephews (Tom & Robb) are the nicest, smartest, most caring and concerned Toronto Maple Leafs nuts that I know. I am such a proud aunt and love them more than I can say.

They have married two fantastic women whom I fell in love with immediately.

Jacklyn and Adrienne are Registered Nurses in Ontario, Canada and are as lovely inside as they are on the outside. I am so happy to call my new friends, "family".
Robb & Adrienne
The Rodgers-Young Rehearsal Dinner was hosted on a beautiful property in Orangeville Canada. A lasagna dinner prepared and served by Tom's mother and step-father (Barb & Brent) was terrific and the casual environment made getting to know Jacklyn's family, effortless.

Paranoid in South America

Anticipating travel to South America was both exciting and scary. Admittedly, reports of muggings, kidnappings and police corruption go...
